The Test de Connaissance du Français Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité (TCF IRN) allows you to officially certify your language level. Essential for your administrative procedures, it is recognized by the Ministry of the Interior and the prefectures for applications for residence permits or naturalization.

Why TCF IRN?
The TCF IRN is the official reference exam for your administrative procedures in France.
- For a resident card or a multi-year card: level B1 is now required.
- For an application for French nationality: level B2 is now required.
- To validate the level required for the security guard training.
Conduct of the tests
- Listening comprehension: 25 multiple-choice questions (20 minutes)
- Reading comprehension: 25 multiple-choice questions (35 minutes)
- Written expression: 3 writing exercises (30 minutes)
- Oral expression: 3 exercises during an individual interview (15 minutes)
Choose your comfort
At the Alliance française de Montpellier, we offer you the choice of support to take your exam.
This choice directly influences the time it takes to receive your results:
- Computer session: ideal for urgent cases. Your final results are available within 2 weeks. Computer proficiency is essential!
- Paper session: this is the traditional format. Your final results are available within 4 weeks.
Please note : To validate your file, you must reach the desired level in each of the 4 tests of the exam.
If one of the tests has a lower result, your overall level may be lowered, which could make your certificate insufficient for the Prefecture.
Your certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
